Indian Deep Sleeper Sparks Rescue Operation in Pattaya

Pattaya —

In an unusual incident in Pattaya, an Indian tourist fell into an extremely deep sleep inside a car, leading friends to resort to breaking the vehicle’s windows with a hammer to awaken him.

The incident occurred around 3:00 AM on January 9th, 2024, prompting a response from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit. Upon arrival, the rescuers found an Indian man, identified only as Mr. U, 28, deeply asleep in a red Nissan Juke sedan parked along Beach Road in the heart of Pattaya City. The car was locked with all windows shut, and despite attempts by his friends to wake him for over 30 minutes, Mr. U remained in deep slumber.

Concerned about their friend’s well-being, his companions sought assistance from Pattaya police officers and rescue personnel. However, despite authorities’ multiple efforts to call and tap on the windows, Mr. U remained unresponsive. Eventually, with the car owner’s consent, rescuers used a hammer to break the car windows, successfully waking the tourist from his deep slumber.

Fortunately, the sleeping tourist was found to be in good health and was simply taking a rest. Mr. U’s Thai friend, Ms. Nan (alias), revealed that they had been drinking at a nearby market when Mr. U, after getting drunk, excused himself to lie down in the car. When their repeated attempts to wake him were unsuccessful, they decided to seek help, leading to the strange rescue operation.

The tourist and his friends thanked the rescuers for their help.
