Thai Prime Minister Issues Urgent Directive Following Pesticide Leak in Samut Prakan

At 7:00 PM, on January 4th, 2023, Samut Prakan firefighter teams and relevant agencies received a report of a pickup truck carrying a 200-liter drum leaking pesticides. in Samrong Nuea, Samut Prakan.

Upon hearing the local breaking news, at 10:20 PM Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin ordered the Governor of Samut Prakan Province to monitor the incident and people living in the area closely. An urgent evacuation order must be issued if the situation cannot be controlled, said Srettha.

Furthermore, the Thai Prime Minister gave an order to relevant agencies to promptly investigate the cause of the incident. The future incident must not occur again and if any illegal act is found, strict legal action must be taken accordingly, remarked Srettha.

At 11:17 PM, Srettha posted on X regarding the incident asking people in the pesticide leakage area to avoid going outdoors, wear a mask all the time, and if there were any abnormal symptoms, immediate medical treatment was advised.
