Pattaya Aims to Attract 27 Million Tourists in 2024

Pattaya —

The Pattaya tourism authorities are targeting 27 million visitors (including Thais) to the coastal city in 2024.

The director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Pattaya office, Urai Mukpradapthong, stated that the goal is realistic based on the expected tourist arrivals in 2023, which are likely to reach the targeted 23 million goal after final results are tabulated.

Pattaya experienced a surge in domestic and international tourists in the last quarter of 2023, partly attributed to a visa exemption scheme for some countries like India, Russia, and China. The city’s popularity as a tourist destination is upheld by its diverse attractions, including sports facilities and large convention centers.

Ms. Urai stated that the city’s attempts to actively host events, such as the recent New Year celebration, road shows, and exhibitions in Europe and the Middle East also played a part in boosting the number of tourists both international and domestic alike.

In term of foreign visitors, the top five countries with the most visitors to Pattaya in 2023 were Russia, India, China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

Although the final number of arrivals in 2023 is not yet available, Pattaya aims to welcome up to 27 million tourists in 2024, Ms. Urai said.
