Bangkok—
At 1:30 PM on December 30th, 2023, Don Mueang police and relevant officers of more than 30 individuals raided a gambling den using an abandoned futsal stadium as a front to secretly operate illegal gambling activities in Don Mueang, Bangkok.
The establishment was reportedly raided and shut down previously on November 21st, 2023, as the police received a report of illegal gambling activities. The futsal stadium reportedly demolished parts of the building and renovated some parts for a parking lot after being shut down.
According to a report by the police, more than 50 gamblers reportedly tried to flee after the police showed up. They attempted to hide at a nearby Soi that had a secret exit from the building. The gambling den reportedly had constructed a room, especially for gambling activities.
Initially, 5 CCTV cameras and a central gambling table were found inside the gambling room. The police then collected gambling equipment as evidence and captured 63 gamblers for further legal proceedings.
Police are searching for the owners for accountability and legal reasons.
