A Good Samaritan attempting to help an injured pedestrian in a separate accident was himself struck and killed by another oncoming vehicle on Highway 36 in Chonburi, Friday, December 22nd.
Police officers from the Banglamung Police Station, alongside volunteer rescue personnel, responded to the scene in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Banglamung district shortly after receiving reports of the accident. They found a black Kawasaki 250cc motorcycle with a Rayong license plate overturned on the roadside. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Mr. Prachak (last name withheld) from Tak province, lay seriously injured nearby.
Despite immediate medical attention and urgent transport to Banglamung Hospital, Mr. Prachak tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Initial investigations, aided by CCTV footage, revealed that Mr. Prachak had witnessed a previous accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on the highway. He selflessly crossed the road to assist the injured person. However, while returning to the other side of the road, Mr. Prachak was himself struck by the oncoming Kawasaki motorcycle driven by an individual whose name was not released to the press.
Mrs. Namphueng (last name withheld), the deceased’s 52-year-old mother, spoke to reporters at the scene, describing her son as a dedicated individual who had lost his life while performing a selfless act.
Mr. Prachak’s body remains at Banglamung Hospital to await funeral arrangements. Reports regarding potential legal charges against the involved motorcyclist are not available.
