Thai Tourist Police Ensure Safety at Walking Street for Christmas and New Year Celebrations

Pattaya—

On December 22nd, 2023, Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phuek-am, the Commissioner of the Tourist Police and relevant agencies held a meeting on the Strong Tourism Community (S.T.C.) at Walking Street to monitor the safety of Pattaya streets during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Thai tourist police emphasized safety on the streets with aid from entertainment service-trained guards to monitor order and report directly to the police if incidents occurred. This ties into a recent training given to security guards across Pattaya as we reported on here.

During the Christmas and New Year celebrations, every agency was ready to monitor the safety of life and property of the tourists and build confidence in a positive tourism image with a good impression while visiting Thailand, said the tourist police commissioner.

Smart Safety Zone principles from the S.T.C. project were applied to popular tourist attractions in 10 locations in 9 provinces including Pattaya Walking Street, added the tourist police commissioner.

After the meeting, Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira and relevant agencies inspected the S.T.C. project on Walking Street, South Pattaya, and handed out cookies to the tourists as a Christmas present. Many tourists reportedly enjoyed this and it had a positive impression, said the police.
