Young Hero in the Making: 6-Year-Old Extinguishes Forest Fire in Sri Racha

Sri Racha —

A heart-warming story of bravery and family came to light when a video of a 6-year-old boy named Peerapat extinguishing a forest fire in Chonburi went viral on social media.

Peerapat, a kindergarten student at Wat Utaphao School in Chonburi’s Mueang district, was captured valiantly spraying water at the flames alongside adult firefighters.

The video, which was shared on Thai social media on December 18th, quickly garnered over 2 million views and widespread admiration for the young hero’s courage and resourcefulness. What makes this act even more remarkable is Peerapat’s family background. His father, Mr. Wiraphong, is a firefighter at the Laem Chabang Port, while his mother is a rescue worker. His grandfather, too, has a distinguished career as a firefighter.

Growing up surrounded by heroes, Peerapat has learned by example. He demonstrates an astounding grasp of firefighting procedures, skillfully handling the fire hose, understanding its proper storage, and even activating the siren with impressive knowledge, as seen in the video.

Reporters recently visited the genius child and asked about his dreams, to which he said he aspires to follow in his family’s footsteps. The 6-year-old boy wishes to help society and learn everything he can about firefighting from his father and grandfather. Even on his free days, the boy said he dons a firefighter’s uniform and practices alongside his family, learning about proper firefighting techniques. His dream, of course, is to become a professional firefighter when he grows up.

The photos of Peerapat are released to the Thai media with the permission of his family.
