Update: 15 People Arrested in Connection to Khlong Toei Shooting Incident; Police Pursue Justice for Victims

On December 18th, 2023, Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin Poolsawat, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, publicly revealed the result of raid operations in 14 locations regarding the Khlong Toei shooting incident on November 11th. There were 15 individuals arrested.

According to a report by the police, all the captured suspects were linked to the shooting incident as they reportedly shared a residence in Wong Sawang 19, Bangkok. They allegedly procured illegal firearms and escape vehicles and concealed and destroyed evidence regarding the case, said Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin.

On the incident day, on November 11th, 2023, the group of suspects allegedly conspired to commit the crimes based on a hazing type of activity.

The police rigorously investigated the case to find the culprit who allegedly shot the innocent teacher passerby, the accomplice who rode a motorbike, and involved individuals, asserted Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin.

The 15 suspects were issued arrest warrants after the investigation, one of them was publicly identified only as Mr. Noppawut who allegedly conspired to plan the shooting and escape plans, and reportedly was arrested with one unregistered firearm and a box of 45 mm bullets, said Pol. Maj. Gen. Noppasin.

Initially, all the suspects reportedly denied the allegations and were escorted to Thung Maha Mek inquiry officers for further legal processing.

At 9:30 AM, on December 19th, Thai metropolitan police captured the alleged shooter who was publicly identified only as Mr. Anavin, and an accomplice who was publicly identified only as Mr. Kriti in Chiang Mai while camping at Doi Pui-Suthep.

Anavin and Kriti were reportedly escorted to the Metropolitan Investigation Division, Bangkok, for legal proceedings.
