Dangling Wire Snags Pattaya Motorbike Taxi Driver by His Neck

Pattaya —

A motorbike taxi driver in Pattaya narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation when he collided with a hanging cable on December 17th, resulting in a gruesome neck wound.

The driver, identified as Ethan Ketwongsa, 22, shared his horrific experience on Facebook, stating he drove a motorbike into a hanging cable on Soi Ban Nern Thang Rotfai 1, off the parallel railway road in east Pattaya.

Ethan, who legally works for the ride-sharing “Bolt” application, said to local media that the mishap happened as he was returning home around 5:00 AM on December 17th after dropping off a customer.

He recounted that while approaching the scene, he saw a car ahead swerving to avoid something, prompting him to slow down. Due to poor lighting in the area, he failed to notice a cable strung across the road. As he drove into the cable, the line became entangled around his neck, causing him to crash.

Fortunately, Ethan was still conscious after the impact and quickly removed the cable from his neck. He then dragged it to the side of the road to prevent further danger. The victim sustained visible injuries to his neck, resembling burns and abrasions from the cable.

Shaken by the incident, Ethan expressed his frustration with the unsafe practices of whoever installed the cable. He alleged that their work poses a great risk to public safety and urged the responsible authorities to take accountability and implement safety measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
