Cargo Ship Worker Falls into the sea and is Rushed to a Sri Racha Hospital

Sri Racha, Thailand

A cargo ship worker was pulled from the water unconscious on Tuesday evening, after falling into the sea at the pier near Sri Racha district, Chonburi province.

At around 4:30 PM on December 19th, the Sawang Prateep Sri Racha Rescue Unit received a report of a man drowning in the sea near Koh Loy. They rushed to the incident location at the Koh Loy Pier to find local residents had already retrieved the unresponsive man from the sea.

Springing into action, the rescue workers immediately performed life-saving CPR on the man. The Lan Thom medical team from Samitivej Hospital then arrived later and joined in the efforts before rushing the man who was not immediately identified to the hospital.

Mr. Panlop Panthong, a 26-year-old fisherman who witnessed the incident, stated that he was snorkeling in the area and heard something falling into the water. Initially, he thought that the victim leaped into the sea from the ship to cool off but realized later that he was not just relaxing after hearing people on the ship shouting for help. Mr. Panlop then swam to the victim to rescue him out of the water.

It was reported that the victim is a cargo worker. The cause of his fall from the cargo ship is currently under investigation. Authorities are interviewing witnesses and reviewing any available footage from the vessel.
