Bangkok—

On December 13th, 2023, Mr. Paitoon Ngammuk, the director of the Huai Khwang district office, publicly updated the media on the recent fire incident at JODD FAIRS on Rama IX, Bangkok. As a result, more than 120 stalls were reportedly damaged and the majority were clothes shops.

Initially, the Huai Khwang district officers would establish a Help Center to alleviate the victims affected by the fire incident with a subsidy of 11,000 baht each and other compensations in the future.

It was reported that the damage value for compensation was estimated at 1.3 million baht.

However, as of press time, the relevant agencies were still investigating to determine the exact cause of the incident. Only one minor injury was reported, and a case where a theft was reported was under investigation.

Paitoon added that the JODD FAIRS area was declared “a red zone” and was closed until further announcements for maintenance and renovations which would take 7 days or more.
The Huai Khwang district officers would enhance safety measures to prevent the same incident in the future, said Paitoon.
