Thai Police Seize Record 50 Million Amphetamine Pills in Kanchanaburi Drug Bust

At 3:30 PM, on December 12th, 2023, Thong Pha Phum police officers apprehended a couple smuggling amphetamine pills of over 50 million units through the Thong Pha Phum checkpoint in Kanchanaburi.

The alleged drug smugglers were publicly identified only as Mr. Pitiphan and Ms. Pornsiri. The truck couple drivers stashed illicit substances inside sacks supposed to contain plastic bottles, metal scraps, and similar products to avoid arrest, said Thong Pha Phum police.

It was reported that 50 million pills of amphetamines were the largest seizure ever in Kanchanaburi. Initially, the alleged drug smuggler couple were escorted to the Thong Pha Phum police station for legal processing.

The Thai police pledged to investigate further to hold those involved individuals accountable for their crimes.
