Pattaya Hosts International Windsurfing Championship with Participants from 9 Countries

Pattaya City officially kicked off the “2024 Pattaya International Windsurfing Championship” on December 9th. The event, hosted at Jomtien Beach, brought together athletes from 9 countries for an exciting competition.

Windsurfers from South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, Cambodia, the United States, Italy, and Thailand are showcasing their skills across 12 categories.

Mr. Kritsana Boonsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, presided over the opening ceremony yesterday, saying the championship offered an opportunity for Thai windsurfing athletes to compete against international talents and further hone their skills.

He added that this competition also served as a crucial preparation stage for upcoming events, including the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia (May 2024), the World Sailing Championships in the Netherlands (May 2024), and the 33rd SEA Games scheduled to take place from December 9th to the 20th in 2025 in which Pattaya will be one of the three hosting areas.

The city is renowned for its ideal wind conditions and excellent water sports facilities, making it a popular destination for athletes and enthusiasts alike. This championship further emphasizes Pattaya’s commitment to promoting windsurfing and fostering a vibrant sporting culture.
