Thai Government Initiates ‘Give Birth, Great World’ Campaign to Address Declining Birth Rates and Future Economic Challenges

National—

On December 6th, 2023, Dr. Cholnan Srikaew, the Thai Minister of Public Health, and relevant agencies held a conference on promoting “Give Birth, Great World”, heading to the destination, Ayutthaya.

Dr. Cholnan publicly revealed that Thailand is one of 23 countries that reportedly has higher death rates than birth rates which leads to low births with poor health.

As a result, Thailand will challenge a future economic crisis as the population will be reduced to 33 million people in 60 years, 14 million adults who can work, said Cholnan.

Furthermore, the Thai government will raise low birth rates as a national agenda from December 25th and encourage Thai people to bear children to keep the total reproductive rate from decreasing too quickly.

The government seeks to make reproductive health rights a basic right of every citizen in the country, remarked Dr. Cholnan.

Dr. Cholnan concluded that Primary Health Care officials would help locals realize the importance of having children as the world’s greatest gift.
