At 9:30 PM, on December 4th, 2023, Thai Marine Police, Narcotics Suppression officers, and relevant officials raided an international drug smuggling operation at the TNS Bangpakong jetty in Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao. There were 13 suspects captured and more than 2 tonnes of methamphetamine confiscated.
Thai reporters publicly revealed that the Thai police received a report from an anonymous source of a massive drug smuggling operation distributed to other countries. The police deployed special teams at the TNS Bangpakong jetty and spotted a group of suspects allegedly transporting illicit substances.
During the arrest, the suspects attempted to flee from the police officers by jumping into the sea, however, the officers followed them and were able to capture every last one of them.
According to a report by the police, 13 suspects were captured with 90 boxes stashing 2 tonnes of methamphetamine inside.
Furthermore, it was reported by Thai national media that the alleged drug smugglers would transport narcotic substances to the Philippines, Australia, and other countries.
However, the Thai police pledged to investigate further to determine the origin of the illicit substances to hold involved parties accountable for their crimes.
