Khon Kaen—
At 4:30 PM, on November 30th 2023, Mueang Khon Kaen police officers performed a field inspection at Major Cineplex Movie Theater, Mueang, Khon Kaen, to prevent potential altercations between college students coming to watch the movie “4 Kings II”.
The police officers gave instructions and preventive measures on potentially risky situations as a result of watching the movie to the movie theater manager. The police officers also talked and gave guidance to youths and people who came to watch the movie.
The movie “4 Kings II” depicts the content of violence and the use of weapons to attack each other between groups of Thai technical college students.
Previously, when the movie “4 Kings” was screened in 2021, there were several cases in which technical college students fought each other after the movie ended.
Pol. Col. Preecha Kengsarikit, Muang Khon Kaen station’s chief, publicly stated his concern that after watching the movie, teenagers might be overly excited and cause an altercation or imitate the movie acts. The patrol officers were reportedly ordered to inspect two other movie theaters in Mueang Khon Kaen.
Pol. Col. Preecha further warned teenagers watching the movie that they needed to use discretion and not imitate the movie to cause violence as it will only create trouble for themselves and their families. If they are found committing illegal acts, the police will surely hold them accountable, concluded Pol. Col. Preecha.
Meanwhile, Bangkok police officers were also dispatched to local movie theaters in Bangkok to keep security in front of the malls where “4 Kings II” will be screened.
