Fatal Accident on Pattaya-Rayong Bypass Road: Motorbike Collides with Lorry

At 12:16 AM, on December 2nd, 2023, Nong Prue police officers received an accident report that a motorbike rear-ended an 18-wheel lorry at the Pattaya-Rayong bypass road, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. There was one casualty reported.

Pattaya rescue teams were dispatched to the accident scene and found an 18-wheel lorry driver who was publicly identified as Mr. Somchat Panithikul, 51, who had parked his lorry at the roadside. A crashed motorbike and a body were found stuck at the back of the lorry.
The Pattaya rescue teams successfully retrieved the body which was later identified as Mr. Suthat Iamchan.

Somchat, the lorry driver, said to the rescue teams that he was heading to Rayong to deliver scrap, however, an unidentified driver beeped his horn as a signal to stop the lorry as there was an accident. He then reportedly stopped the lorry and inspected it to find Suthat stuck at the back of the lorry.

Initially, Nong Prue police officers gathered CCTV footage as evidence and pledged to investigate the case further to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The accident was still under investigation as of press time.
