Pattaya —

Pattaya City was abuzz with festive energy as Thai and foreign tourists flocked to the city to partake in the traditional Loy Krathong festival on the evening of November 27th, 2023.

The nationwide event, held at the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien in the Banglamung district of Chonburi province, witnessed a surge of thousands of Thai and international tourists eagerly making their way to the sea to float Krathongs (decorative floats) in a joyous celebration of this year’s Loy Krathong festival.

The event extended its charm beyond just Thai people as it drew interest from a sizable number of foreigners, particularly those from Europe and China.

Massive crowds of attendees lined up along the beachfront to purchase Krathongs and snacks from local vendors, while Pattaya police maintained vigilant surveillance over vendors illegally selling firecrackers or sky lanterns that could pose danger to the environment.

Beyond the bustling city center of Pattaya, grand Loy Krathong events unfolded at various locations, including Nongprue Municipality and Lake Mapprachan. Similar events were held at public parks near reservoirs and several temples across Thailand, each contributing to the beautiful culture of Thai people.
