Banglamung Police Arrest Suspect in Series of Break-Ins

Chonburi

Banglamung police apprehended a suspect they claimed was a notorious burglar who had been terrorizing the community with a string of midday thefts.

The suspect, identified by police as Mr. Prasert Laomanee, 50, was arrested on November 28th at 00:30 hours following an investigation led by Pol. Col. Nawin Sinturat, superintendent of Banglamung Police Station.

The arrest came after a series of complaints from victims who reported burglaries in their rental rooms in the Banglamung area of Chonburi province during midday while they were away at work.

The suspect, typically clad in a motorcycle helmet to conceal his identity, used a metal cutter to gain entry into the rooms and steal various valuables, including gold necklaces, amulets, and other precious items said Banglamung police. Following each theft, he would make a swift escape on his motorcycle, leaving residents feeling vulnerable and unsafe.

Banglamung police’s review of CCTV footage revealed a common pattern in each burglary. The police eventually ruled that it was the same suspect, Mr. Prasert, who was allegedly responsible for the numerous thefts.

Armed with a court warrant, the investigative team raided Mr. Prasert’s hideout located in Pathum Thani province and successfully captured him. Upon his arrest, a large number of stolen items were recovered, including gold necklaces, amulets, and more than 10 other valuables.

During the initial interrogation, Mr. Prasert reportedly confessed to committing multiple thefts in Banglamung and admitted to selling some of the items to settle his debts. It was understood that two victims positively identified their stolen property recovered by the police.

According to Pol. Col. Nawin, Mr. Prasert had a history of criminal offenses, having been arrested three times previously for similar burglary charges. His criminal approach involved driving a motorcycle to targeted areas during midday, where he would quickly break into unoccupied rooms.

The suspect is detained and facing legal actions as of press time. Meanwhile, Banglamung police announced to amplify surveillance measures and patrols to deter further thefts and restore a sense of security within the community.
