Son Assaults Father with Knife in Chonburi

Chonburi —

A 30-year-old man in Chonburi assaulted his father with a knife, leaving the victim with multiple serious injuries.

The incident occurred on November 21st around 11 PM in the Na Klua sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The victim, 54-year-old Udon Chansungnoen, was found undressed at the front of his residence by rescue workers. The man suffered grievous injuries, including a stab wound under his left nipple and 10 other wounds across his body.

Mr. Udon was reported to have been brutalized by his own son, 30-year-old Adisak Chan-sungneun, whom Chonburi police said was under the influence of illegal drugs when they came to apprehend him. The rescue team provided initial medical assistance to Mr. Udon before urgently transporting him to the hospital.

Mr. Udom’s niece, identified only as Ms. Phonnapas due to her young age, revealed that she witnessed the attack. She said Adisak, the suspect, had been acting strangely prior to the assault. Adisak reportedly claimed to be the true son of King Naresuan, an important historical figure in Thai history, and believed that some invisible Khmer warriors, King Naresuan’s enemies, were trying to harm him.

Adisak also had a history of drug abuse but had undergone treatment. However, he had recently refused to take his medication, Ms. Phonnapas said.

The authorities detained Adisak for further investigation. A forensic team collected evidence, including drug samples from Adisak’s body, while Mr. Udom remains in critical condition under close medical supervision.
