The victim, Mr. Ruhan T., reported his predicament to the Pattaya police on November 20th, stating that he had fallen victim to a potential scammer. The incident took place at an unidentified hotel on Soi Pattaya Sai Song in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

Narrating to police through an interpreter, Mr. Ruhan said he got to know a Thai woman through a dating app just about three days ago. They exchanged some chats before Mr. Ruhan invited the unidentified woman to visit Pattaya from Phuket to meet and hang out.

The two went sightseeing on Walking Street in South Pattaya. After the tour, Mr. Ruhan agreed to go to the hotel in question with the woman. Upon reaching the room, she gestured for him to take a shower. However, when he finished showering and came out, he couldn’t find the woman.

At first, Mr. Ruhan said he did not think much of it until he checked his belongings. He discovered that foreign currency of about 2,100 dollars (73,000 baht), that he was carrying, and his iPhone 14 Pro worth around 30,000 baht, were missing. Concerned about the loss, he promptly went to report the incident to the Pattaya police.

As of press time, Pattaya police are examining CCTV footage to try to identify the woman and track her down for legal action.
