Mentally Ill Man Assaulted by Teenagers in Chonburi

A mentally ill man was beaten by two teenagers in front of the Mahachon Market in Banglamung district, Chonburi. The incident occurred at around 02:10 AM today, November 20th.

The victim, identified by Pattaya police as Mr. Jitphong M, 38, whose surname was withheld due to his medical condition, was found with a fractured head and bleeding from various parts of his body. He appeared to be a mental patient, according to rescue workers. Mr. Jitphong was transported to Banglamung Hospital for medical treatment.

According to Jitphong, he was sitting and eating bread in front of the market when a group of three teenagers approached him. The unidentified teenagers asked him why he was looking at them and then proceeded to attack Mr. Jitphong with a stick, the victim said.

An eyewitness, who preferred to remain confidential, corroborated Mr. Jitphong’s account of the incident. They reported seeing three teenagers arriving at the scene on a motorbike and two of them approaching Mr. Jitphong and verbally confronting him before physically assaulting him. They then sped away on their waiting vehicle.

Pattaya police are currently investigating the incident and plan to review CCTV footage in the vicinity to identify the perpetrators. They will also be pursuing legal action against the teenagers.
