Buriram—
On November 13th, 2023, Prakhon Chai police officers and the Prakhon Chai Industrial and Community Education College launched an inspection on motorcycles modified for racing in Prakhon Chai, Buriram.
The purpose of the inspection was to deter teenagers from gathering for motorcycle races on highway roads in disregard to the safety of others and causing annoyance to locals from loud noises late at night as well as carrying illegal firearms in public areas or in college institutions.
According to the report from Prakhon Chai police officers, after the inspection of 200 motorcycles, it was reported that 29 of them were modified for racing. The owners of the modified motorcycles were warned and given instructions to remodify the motorcycles to the original specifications under Thai laws.
Initially, 29 students willingly agreed to the instructions given by the police officers. However, if the owners of the modified motorcycles ignore the warning, they will be punished by the law with light to severe punishments based on the level of modification.
Furthermore, the police officers publicized a campaign on confiscating loud racing motorcycles and educating students on road racing offenses and traffic laws as per the order from the Royal Thai Police.
