Prachinburi—
At 12:20 PM, on November 11th, 2023, Nadi police officers received a shooting incident report during a religious ceremony at the Burana Sattha Tham temple, Nadi, Prachinburi. There was one casualty reported.
The victim was later identified as 2nd Lt. Natthakit Prasankok, a 63-year-old retired soldier.
The Nadi police officers were dispatched to the incident scene and found 2nd Lt. Natthakit was in critical condition before being transferred to the Kabinburi Hospital.
Unfortunately, 2nd Lt. Natthakit was later announced dead by medical officials.
According to the report from the Nadi police officers, Mr. Udom Sriklam, a 72-year-old local witness, reportedly stated that during a religious ceremony, Nadi locals were preparing for another ceremony the next day.
An alleged shooter reportedly drove his pickup truck to the site and confronted the victim. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard before the locals attempted to stop the alleged suspect who shot the victim. The alleged shooter, who was later publicly identified as Pol. Lt. Phongphet Kongkham from Nadi police station, then fled from the crime scene in haste.
At 6:00 PM, Pol. Col. Natthakarn Pratumsri, the superintendent of Nadi Police Station, publicly stated that the victim and the alleged suspect were relatives but had a quarrel a few years before. Pol. Lt. Phongphet reportedly called and confessed his crime to Pol. Col. Natthakarn via telephone.
Initially, Pol. Lt. Phongphet was reportedly suspended from his duty and was taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
