Norwegian Pedestrian Critically Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Jomtien Beach Road

Pattaya—

At 3:00 AM, on November 11th, 2023, the Pattaya rescue squad received a report about a motorcycle-pedestrian accident report on Jomtien Beach Road, Bang Lamung, Chonburi. A serious injury was reported.

The Pattaya rescue volunteers and Bangkok-Pattaya medical team were dispatched to the incident scene and found Mr. Arne Helge Garvik, a 58-year-old Norweigian, in critical condition. The medical team then performed first aid before urgently transferring the wounded man to the Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital.

The motorcyclist who hit Arne was publicly identified as Mr. Hansen Riisbjerg, a 44-year-old Danish man, who was waiting for the police officers to arrive at the incident scene to give testimony.

According to the report from the rescue team, an unidentified witness reportedly said that Arne was walking on the roadside while Hansen rode his motorcycle at high speed before colliding with Arne. As a result, Arne bounced into a car that was parked nearby and was found in critical condition.

Initially, the Pattaya City police officers pledged to conduct further investigation and gathered evidence and likely would press charges of reckless driving against Hansen. Mr. Hansen was, however, described as cooperative with law enforcement.
