Thai Prime Minister Assures the Public that Thai Hostages Held by Hamas are Still Safe

National —

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Monday reassured the public that all 23 Thais currently held captive by Hamas militants are still safe. Negotiating efforts are underway to free them, he said.

PM Srettha said on November 6th that he was assured by Gen Songwit Noonpakdee, chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, on Sunday night that all 23 Thai hostages remained safe.

The general had viewed images of the hostages and confirmed to Srettha that they were alive. Gen Songwit informed the PM that he was in negotiations with Hamas through Malaysia for the release of the Thai captives. He was also hoping for a ceasefire of one or two days to create a window for the hostages to be safely escorted from the Gaza Strip.
