On November 2nd, 2023, the Thai Cyber Crime Investigation (CCI) officers held a press conference raiding the gambling den “UFAV8” with property in dispute worth more than 150 million baht.
An alleged mastermind behind the famous online gambling website was publicly identified only as Mr. Pramet, 41, and was arrested in the Sukhumvit area, Watthana, Bangkok.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Thana Chuwongthe, the Assistant Commissioner – General of the Royal Thai Police, publicly stated that as per the government policy and the direct order from Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukvimol, the commissioner general of the Royal Thai Police, the eradication of online gambling websites was issued.
Online gambling is one of a number of social issues that created debts to Thai people for a long time.
The CCI officers conducted an investigation and found the gambling network providing football bets, slot gambling, and other gambling games for more than three years with over 10,000 users in the system. It was estimated that the annual financial income was 600 million baht.
Pramet, the alleged mastermind of UFAV8, was reportedly the boss of Outlaws Thailand as a sub-branch of International Outlaws, one of a number of transnational criminal organizations. This criminal organization has members worldwide and is linked to many shady businesses such as human trafficking, drug trafficking, and all kinds of gambling.
Moreover, Pol. Lt. Gen. Worawat Watthanakornbancha, the commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Division, publicly stated that upon further investigation, there was an issuance of an arrest warrant on 10 more alleged suspects involved with UFAV8, currently in Poi Pet, Cambodia. On further investigation of confiscated assets, there was a link to a casino located in a neighboring country.
