On October 28th, 2023, Dr. Pichet Kunadhamraks, the Director General of the Department of Rail Transport, publicly revealed current results after the 20-baht electric train ride policy on the Red and Purple BTS lines became effective on October 16th, 2023.

When comparing the number of passengers on the last Friday of October 2023 to the last Friday of September 2023, the number of passengers who used the Red Line service in September was 26,274 persons per trip, and in October 34,161 persons per trip. The statistics showed an increasing number of more than 30.02% or 7,887 more passengers.

However, on October 27th, 2023 the Ministry of Transport and relevant officials held a meeting to make plans to create a feeder system to facilitate and reduce travel costs on rail systems, especially the Red and Purple lines. After the policy of 20-baht electric train rides took effect, as a result, it was found that the number of passengers using the service increased continuously.

Dr. Pichet further proposed to increase the potential of various important travel connection points in the future, for example, Future Park Rangsit Shopping Center, Bangkok University, Thammasat University, Mahidol University, Siriraj, and many more destinations.
