Pattaya —

A distraught Russian tourist was arrested on Wednesday morning, October 18th, in Soi Buakhao, Pattaya, after allegedly causing a disturbance in the area.

The tourist, who was not identified by police, reportedly trespassed into people’s accommodations and stores without permission. Additionally, he tampered with a sedan parked in front of a residence according to a local media report. Alarmed citizens notified Pattaya police, who arrived at the scene at 7:30 AM to apprehend the man.

Upon arrival, the police observed that the Russian man appeared distressed, paranoid, and was unable to communicate coherently. Prior to the police’s intervention, he had also grabbed other people’s laundry left hanging outside and then discarded them in a nearby trash bin for unknown reasons.

Eyewitnesses informed the police that the Russian tourist had also attempted to use a key to unlock the door of a resident’s car. Despite locals’ efforts to prevent him, the tourist paid no heed and insisted that the car belonged to him.

Ultimately, the tourist was escorted to the Pattaya Police Station to calm down. While the motive behind the man’s peculiar behavior remained unclear, police expressed relief that no harm was caused by him. Pattaya police encouraged residents to report any property damage caused by the tourist to the station.

It was unclear if the tourist would be charged legally for his odd behaviour or evaluated for a mental health condition.
