Pattaya —

A large fire, believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike according to eyewitnesses, erupted at a waste pit in Soi Thung Klom Tan Man near Pattaya on the morning of October 16th.

The blaze, which sent plumes of thick smoke billowing into the sky, burned fiercely for over four hours, as reported by the Nongprue fire department. The incident was reported at 7:30 AM yesterday, prompting a rapid response from rescue teams and firefighters who swiftly travelled to the waste pit located in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.

Eyewitness Ms. Lee Sukprasert, 43, recounted hearing a loud clap of thunder, followed by the sight of smoke emanating from the pit. She also said that there were people scavenging for sellable items in the pit at the moment of the explosion. Fortunately, they managed to evacuate the area unharmed.
