Sleepy Driver Slams Into Sattahip Power Pole, Suffers Minor Injuries

Sattahip —

A Thai driver admitted to dozing off behind the wheel after crashing his car into a power pole in the Sattahip district. He was moderately injured, although his car had sustained extensive damage.

23-year-old Pradermphong Phongphaew was rescued from his pickup truck that had slammed into a power pole on Sukhumvit Road in the Bang Saray area of Chonburi province, at 6:30 AM on October 15th.

The car had flipped over and trapped Pradermphong inside. However, the lucky driver only sustained minor injuries including a cut on his right arm and a pain in his hip.

Pradermphong reportedly admitted to Sattahip police that he felt drowsy and suddenly lost consciousness when he arrived at the accident scene. Subsequently, his pickup truck collided with an electricity pole and overturned.

Upon regaining consciousness, the driver attempted to help himself out of the vehicle, but was unable to do so. It was only when local residents passed by, saw him, and informed the rescue team for assistance that he was able to escape.

The driver was transferred to a local hospital for further minor medical attention.
