Fireman Suspected of Attempted Murder Captured by Nakhon Si Thammarat Police After Nearly 20 Years on the Run

Nakhon Si Thammarat police officers captured a fireman, a suspect for attempted murder, after fleeing for almost 20 years.

On October 12th, 2023, a Crime Suppression Division (CSD) unit captured an attempted murderer identified publicly only as Mr. Sittiphon, 41-years-old, on an arrest warrant from the Trang Provincial Court. Sittiphon faced charges of conspiring to attempt murder with intent and possessing firearms and ammunition without authorization.

In December 2003, according to the arrest warrant, Sittiphon was still a college student. One day, Sittiphon was drinking with his friends in front of his rental apartment and a victim, only identified publicly as Mr. Santichai, his 3 friends, and his girlfriend walked past Sittiphon’s room. Sittiphon shouted teasingly at the girl, however, Santichai became angry, he and his friends then stormed towards Sittiphon and his friends. During the incident, Sittiphon grabbed his knife as a weapon and his friend used a firearm to shoot at Santichai and his friends before fleeing away.


Later, an investigative team gathered evidence that led to the issuance of arrest warrants for Sittiphon and his friends. However, Sittiphon successfully escaped the arrest for almost 20 years, the arrest warrant was due to expire in only a few weeks on December 3rd, 2023.

During the investigation, the CSD team tracked down Sittiphon who worked at Khu Khwang Fire Station, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The police officers then captured Sittiphon and escorted him to the Huai Yot Police Station for further legal proceedings.
