Sattahip Residents Cry Foul Over Seaside Resort Building Pool on Na Jomtien Beach

Sattahip —

Residents in the Sattahip district of Chonburi are urging relevant authorities to scrutinize a seaside resort that has constructed a swimming pool and other facilities directly on Na Jomtien Beach.

Several concerned citizens residing near Na Jomtien Beach have urged the Jomtien Municipality to investigate an anonymous resort located near the famous Lung Sawai seafood restaurant for building a large pool that has extended onto the beach.

The resort has a pool that reaches Na Jomtien Sea and basically blocks people from crossing to the other side of the beach. The name of the resort, however, was withheld to allow further investigation by relevant authorities.

Apart from this, the resort also has a sign that reads ‘Private Area, No Trespassing.’ Thai media reported that the establishment appears to be closed, and the swimming pool seems to have been constructed within the past two years based on information from Google Maps.

Concerned citizens residing in the area are calling for the marine authorities to determine whether the facility has encroached on the public area of the beach or not. They are also demanding to know if the resort owner has a license to build the facility.

As of press time, the resort owner has not released a public statement responding to the allegations.
