Young Man Tragically Drowns While Fishing in Sri Racha

An 18-year-old man drowned after going fishing in a pond at Khao Na Phu Wanaram temple in Sriracha, Chonburi.

At 3:30 PM on October 6th, 2023, Sriracha Police Station received a report from local residents to investigate a drowned man found in a pond behind Khao Na Phu Wanaram Temple in Sriracha, Chonburi. A rescue volunteer team and divers were dispatched to retrieve the body.


After over an hour of operations, divers successfully retrieved the body identified as Mr. Apirak Saengchan, 18-years-old. No traces of abuse or violence were found. There was a fishing rod, a pair of shoes, and a fishing bag found near the scene.


Mr. Chanin Suanthong, 40-years-old, an uncle of the deceased, told the Sri Racha police officers that Mr. Apirak had epilepsy and went fishing for too long. Mr. Chanin went to look for the deceased but only the aforementioned objects were found. He then called the police and rescue services for help.
However, Sri Racha police officers will conduct a further investigation to find the exact cause of the drowning.
