Thai Commerce Minister to Cut Prices of Some Daily Products in October

National —

The Thai Minister of Commerce has promised to reduce prices of several daily products in October 2023 to alleviate the cost of living.

Minister Phumtham Wechayachai said the price cut will be initiated on October 2nd and will be effective nationwide.

He said he already requested collaboration in achieving the measure with the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Bankers’ Association, the Thai Shipowners’ Association, and the Thai Retailers Association.

The aim is to further alleviate the cost of living for the public following the government’s previous reduction in electricity bills and diesel prices.

The move will be carried out in various methods such as organizing a national fair for discounted products, launching mobile Blue Flag outlets, opening low-price retail points, and reducing prices for items sold in department stores, modern retail outlets, local markets, and convenience stores, Phumtham said.

The final details of which products will receive a reduction will also be released on October 2nd, but initial reports suggest that there will be around 20 daily products on the list.
