Two drivers were killed and two passengers seriously injured when a tour bus ran off Highway 331 and crashed into a street barrier near Pattaya on Thursday morning, September 28th.
The accident occurred at 10:16 AM near kilometer marker 10+400 inbound to Sattahip district within Huay Yai sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province.
The bus operated by Chan Tour Company was transporting an unclear number of passengers when it suddenly veered off the highway and plowed into a concrete barrier by the roadside, witnesses said.
Upon rescuers’ inspection inside the bus wreckage, two men were found deceased, and two unidentified passengers were seriously injured. The deceased were identified as Mr. Samrerng Sareephol, 53, the main driver, and the second driver, who could not be identified.
The tour bus sustained significant damage to its front end. The injured and deceased victims were transported to a nearby local hospital.
According to Pol Lt Col Prakasit Phradet, an investigator from the Huay Yai Police Station, the exact cause of the accident remained unclear; however, he suspected that the driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel due to fatigue from driving a long distance.
Nevertheless, the police will review the bus’s dash cam to clarify the cause.
