Large Signboard Collapses in Sri Racha During Storm, One Person Dead

Chonburi – On Wednesday, September 20th, 2023, Sriracha Police Station and a local rescue service received a report of a terrifying incident: a PTT signboard plunging into the ground caused 1 death and damaged convenience stores at Pha Daeng branch, Sri Racha Subdistrict, Sri Racha District.

At the PTT gas station, Pha Daeng branch, gas employees stated that the big signboard at the entrance plunged from strong winds and heavy storms. The incident resulted in 1 death later identified as Mr. Sawat Manoi, 65-years-old, initially found unconscious and heavily wounded.

The rescue squad attempted to aid Mr. Sawat out of his pickup truck that the sign had landed on, however, his wounds were fatal. Mr. Sawat was about to exit the gas station after filling up his fuel tank, unfortunately, the signboard crashed into his pickup truck right about then, said witnesses.

Some convenience stores were damaged from the signboard as well and some people with minor injuries, were treated with first aid. Sri Racha police stated they would speak further with witnesses and view CCTV to review the incident.
