Pattaya – A Thai navy sergeant, reported to be heavily drunk by rescuers, crashed his car into the back of a water truck in Pattaya on Wednesday morning, September 20th.
The Pattaya Police Station received a car accident report just before dawn this morning at the Boonkanjanaram red light intersection, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province, and dispatched officers and rescue workers to the scene.
There, Sgt. Phitakphong Inha, 30-years-old, was rescued from a crashed pickup truck that had crashed into the back of a water truck. Sgt Inha had a minor injury from a bleeding head and was badly drunk as described by rescue workers.
Sgt. Inha spoke incoherently and urinated on a tire of his own vehicle following the accident, stated the rescue unit. A life-saving team performed first aid before transferring him to a nearby hospital.
The water truck driver, Mr. Thanadon Prom-on, 22, stated that he was watering trees on the street’s median when the speeding pickup truck being driven by Mr. Inha suddenly lost control and rear-ended his water truck. The pickup truck then slid away for over 30 meters. After the accident, Mr. Thanadon called emergency services to treat the wounded.
Legal charges are reportedly forthcoming for the alleged drunk-driving navy sergeant as well as likely disciplinary action from the Royal Thai Navy.
