The Highway Police told the Pattaya News that on the evening of August 31st witnesses saw about four men on Motorway 7 (Pattaya – Map Taphut) in Nongprue. They rushed to the scene where they found four male suspects were busily cutting CCTV wires. The suspects ran away when they saw the police, however, one suspect was arrested who was identified as Mr. XAMMAO BOUTAKEO, 38, a Laotian national. Seized from him were CCTV wires that had been cut that cost about 450,000 baht.

He admitted to police that he and the other three men were stealing wire and that they had done this about four times before. They used the money from selling the stolen wires to play online gambling and bought illegal drugs. He was taken to the Nongprue Police Station to face charges of theft by night.

The Highway Police told the Pattaya News that the suspects had damaged about a million baht to government property. The main electric wires that are connected with the CCTV system in Pattaya, Chonburi, and to Map Taphut in Rayong were cut and as a result these particular CCTV systems were temporarily not working.

Relevant authorities were expected to repair the wires as soon as possible and police were searching for the other three suspects who fled the scene of the crime.
