Body of Finnish Tourist Found in Pattaya Village

Pattaya —

A Finnish tourist’s lifeless body was discovered in a house in Pattaya on Sunday night, August 27th, following reports of a noxious stench emanating from the premises.

The unsettling discovery unfolded on August 27th, at around 11:30 PM. Pattaya police and emergency responders rushed to the incident scene located in the Pattaya Rung Rueng Village in the Banglamung District, Chonburi, after being notified by concerned villagers who detected a foul odor from a house inside the village.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the rescue team found three motorcycles parked outside the house. The front gate of the premises was also left open. When they walked into the bedroom, the rescue team was shocked to find the lifeless body of a foreign male, later identified by Pattaya Police as 54-year-old Mr. Tim Jjhani Muhonen, a Finnish national, lying on a bed. The rescue team said there were no apparent signs of foul play, violence, or property disturbance.

Preliminary examinations indicated that the man had been deceased for a minimum of seven days.

According to local residents residing in neighboring accommodations, the foul smell emanating from the house had prevented them from getting restful sleep for almost a week. The growing discomfort prompted them to ultimately alert the authorities.

The residents noted that the house was solely occupied by the deceased. He had recently been visited by an anonymous Thai woman. The residents overheard this woman tell the deceased not to lock the front gate for her potential return. Strangely, no one had seen the foreign man after that point, until the unsettling odor prompted them to call for help.

Police were continuing the investigation and had contacted the deceased’s embassy.

The Pattaya News notes that neighbours and Thai media widely called the man a tourist but he appeared to have been residing in Thailand for some time and was more likely an ex-pat.
