The explosion was reported to the Pattaya Fire Department precisely at 1:36 AM today during heavy rain in Pattaya. A fire truck and a crew of firemen were deployed to the scene, where they found a large blaze engulfing a power transformer located in front of a massage parlor on Soi Pattaya 4.

The blaze quickly spread to a row of motorbikes parked below the transformer. The firemen quickly put out the fire but unfortunately not before it burned 6 motorbikes to a crisp, leaving only their charred frames.

The Pattaya News interviewed Mr. Ratchaphon Klinkaew, the 43-year-old owner of the massage parlor and the destroyed motorbikes. He mentioned that he heard a detonating sound of an electrical transformer during this morning’s heavy rain. He then ran out of his massage shop to find that the fire was quickly spreading downward to his motorbikes. Initially, Mr. Ratchaphon tried to extinguish the flames himself but failed, so he decided to call the fire department.

An investigation to determine the cause of the fire was continuing. No injuries were reported. It was unclear if any relevant agencies would take financial responsibility for the damaged motorbikes.
