Pickup Truck Hits Pattaya Food Cart Vendor and Flees, Married Couple Slightly Injured

A pickup truck hit a squid vendor riding a food cart in Pattaya on Tuesday night, August 15th, and fled. The vendor suffered minor injuries.

The alleged hit-and-run occurred at 8:45 PM near Soi Boon Samphan 2/1 within the Banglamung district of Chonburi. Sawang Boriboon rescue workers rushed to the scene to aid a 54-year-old Thai woman, Mrs. Lamyai Khamsaen, and her unidentified 58-year-old husband after they both were hit by a pickup truck while riding their food cart.

Mrs. Lamyai stated to the rescuers that she and her husband were grilled squid vendors. After they finished their sales for the evening, the couple loaded their belongings onto their food cart and were riding home on the road, when they were suddenly rear-ended by a speeding pickup truck with great force.

Both she and her husband were thrown out of the vehicle. They suffered pain and scratches throughout their bodies, luckily with no serious injuries. Many of their products were also damaged. As for the reckless driver who caused the collision, they immediately fled the scene without showing any concern for the victims.

According to a security camera recording, the truck involved in the accident was a white pickup truck registered in Chonburi.

Sawang Boriboon rescue services sent Mrs. Lamyai and her husband to Pattaya Hospital for medical assistance. The police are reviewing CCTV recordings to identify the culprit.
