Driver Slightly Injured in Pattaya Car Accident, Obstructive Road Barrier Blamed

Pattaya —

A Thai man and his passenger were slightly injured after his sedan crashed into a street barrier and overturned on Sukhumvit Road inbound to Sattahip in the small hours of Wednesday, August 16th.

Pattaya police and emergency responders responded to the accident at 1:30 AM after receiving a report that a sedan had overturned on Sukhumvit Road before reaching the Wat Boon Kanjanaram Intersection in Pattaya, Chonburi.

At the scene, they found a green Nissan March sedan in an overturned position. The driver, Mr. Jirat Phiphatchaikrai, 31, and his unidentified female passenger suffered minor injuries to their bodies.

Mr. Jirat claimed that he was driving normally along the road but due to poor visibility, he crashed into road construction barriers placed in the middle of the road. He reportedly blamed the barriers for not being visible enough and thus causing the accident. This was despite lights set up in the specific construction area.

Pattaya police were investigating the accident to find the exact cause.
