Sri Racha —

A man was arrested in Sri Racha on Tuesday afternoon, August 8th, after he brutally attacked his friend with a knife. The attack was reportedly motivated by the man’s belief that his friend had refused to return his mobile phone, which he had pawned to him.

The attack occurred at the Pruksachat Villa 2 Village located in the Sri Racha district of Chonburi. The rescue team accompanied by medical personnel rushed to the scene to rescue a seriously injured person.

Upon arriving, they found the victim, Mr. Thongchai Phitaksin, 45, who had suffered two wounds inflicted by a knife on the head and another on his back. The perpetrator of the incident was identified as Mr. Nopporn Tamarit, 39, an alleged peer of the victim. He was arrested near the incident scene following a tip-off from witnesses.

During the arrest attempt, it was reported that Nopporn tried to fight his way through the police officers, wielding a long knife wildly. The police were eventually forced to use a taser gun on him to stop his tantrum.

Upon questioning the suspect’s relative, Mr. Suwinnai Budwat, it was revealed that Nopporn had gone to confront the victim to retrieve his phone that he had pawned to him for 600 baht. However, the victim allegedly refused to return the phone for some reason, which frustrated the suspect and later led to an assault.

The suspect is in police custody. An investigation into the incident is continuing.
