Wire Thieves in Chonburi Arrested After Firing Shot at Security Guard

Two men were arrested for stealing electrical wires in Chonburi while one suspect managed to get away. The suspect fired a gun at a security guard who tried to stop them, seriously wounding his face.

The Chonburi police investigated an incident in which three men equipped with firearms stole power cables belonging to the company “iBell (Thailand)” located in Sri Racha district, Chonburi on July 28th, and escaped.

In the incident, the three thieves later identified as Mr. Anuchai Boonpan, 45, Mr. Sarayut Khamduang, 33, and Mr. Thawatchai Sakulrang, 43, were noticed by the company’s security guard, Mr. Ananta Chankwang, and in a bid to escape, they shot him in the face.

After the incident, the criminals managed to flee to Rayong. However, on July 30th, the investigative officers from the Laem Chabang police station were able to trace and apprehend Anuchai and Sarayut, along with two homemade guns and their getaway vehicle.

One suspect, Thawatchai, is still on the loose. The two arrested admitted to the offenses and were charged for attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying firearms in public places without authorization, and theft.

The injured security guard is now safe and recovering at a local hospital.
