Thailand Expects to See Foreign Arrivals Surpass 15 Million Year-to-date by July

National —

Thailand may see up to 15 million foreign tourists arriving in the country before July ends, the deputy spokesperson of the caretaker government Rachada Dhnadirek said.

The nation has seen a noticeable increase in international arrivals over the past several weeks following many stimulus measures by the caretaker government, stated Rachada.

This leads to an expectation that the number of foreign arrivals will surpass 15 million soon, possibly before the end of this month July, 2023.

Thailand currently has recorded 14.15 million foreign visitors so far from January 1st to July 16th, generating 588 billion baht (US$17.11 billion), according to the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

The coming of the long semester break in several overseas countries will contribute to the rise in the number of tourists, Rachada added.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is employing various strategies to boost tourism. One of them is promoting the country’s health and wellness tourism through the “Amazing Thailand Health and Wellness: New Chapters, New Experience” campaign, according to Rachada.

The aim is to enhance the quality of health-related products and services within the country to captivate wellness tourists worldwide, a group with high purchasing power.

“Health and wellness tourism is a growing global trend, so we expect the campaign to boost income and revenue,” Rachada concluded.
