Pattaya Woman on Motorbike Run Over and Killed by Pickup Truck

A Thai woman on a motorbike was knocked over by another motorcyclist that suddenly made a turn to enter an alley. Subsequently, she was fatally run over by a passing pickup truck.

The victim was identified as Ms. Noppamas Itsomboon, 22. On Monday, July 17th, at 10:30 PM, the rescuers were called to rescue her after she got into a road accident with Mr. Sakorn Wongwitong, a 19-year-old rider of a blue Honda Wave 110 motorbike, and Mr. Kittisak Thongrat, a 25-year-old rider of an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck.

According to Mr. Sakorn, who was not injured, Ms. Noppamas was riding her blue Honda Wave motorbike behind him in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. As he reached Soi Pornprapanimit 18, which was his destination, he made a turn to enter the Soi just when Ms. Noppamas accelerated her bike in a bid to overtake him.

This caused Ms. Noppamas to collide with Mr. Sakorn and got knocked down onto the road. Subsequently, a passing pickup truck driven by Mr. Kittisak drove by and accidentally ran over Ms. Noppamas’s head, resulting in her immediate and tragic demise. Mr. Kittisak stated that he already tried to use the emergency brake but it was too late.

A CCTV recording of the incident revealed that Mr. Sakorn made a turn to enter the alley when Ms. Noppamas crashed into him. The body of Ms. Noppamas was transferred to Banglamung Hospital.

The Nongprue police are investigating the incident and determining whether to file any legal charges as of press time.
