The energetic Pattaya Marathon 2023, set for the 22nd and 23rd of July will generate as much as 120 million baht for the city, according to Mayor Poramase Ngampiches.
The mayor held a press conference on July 13th to announce the city’s readiness to host the 30th Pattaya Marathon 2023.
The 30th Pattaya Marathon is part of the Amazing Thailand campaign presented by MAMA, a popular instant noodle company in Thailand. Apart from the 14,000 runners, there are also 11,000 spectators expected to attend, bringing the total number of participants to no less than 25,000.
The mayor stated that he has prepared 2,500 volunteers and local officials to ensure safety during the event. The race is divided into four distances: the full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers, starting at 03:30 AM; the half-marathon distance of 21.1 kilometers, starting at 05:10 AM on Saturday, July 22nd, 2023; the 10-kilometer distance, starting at 05:45 AM; and the 4.5-kilometer distance, starting at 06:25 AM (wheelchair category) and 06:30 AM (family run) on Sunday, July 23rd.
The starting and finishing point is located at the Loma Roundabout in front of Terminal 21 Pattaya. The event is expected to bring in over 120 million baht for the city. During the event there will be significant road closures and through traffic should avoid the marathon areas.
