Many People Injured in Minivan-Pickup Truck Collision Near Pattaya

At least four people were injured when a minivan carrying 10 officials from Lampang province was collided into by a pickup truck in the middle of the night today, July 12th.

The accident took place on Highway 36 in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Sawang Boriboon rescuers rushed to the scene of the incident after receiving the notification.

At the incident site, the rescuers found a gray Toyota Vigo pickup truck had crashed into the middle section of a gray Toyota minivan. The driver of the truck, Mr. Thaweechai Yiamchaipoom, 33, suffered a non-life-threatening fractured skull. His four passengers, however, did not sustain injuries.

As for the van, the rescuers found ten government officials (8 men and 2 women) from Lampang province trapped inside. Three unidentified victims in total sustained injuries. The rescue team performed medical aid before transferring the injured individuals to the hospital.

According to the truck driver, Mr. Thaweechai, he was headed home from work when the minivan suddenly made a turn on the road, leading to the collision. He claimed that he tried to brake but it was unsuccessful. Footage from the minivan dash cam also confirmed Mr. Thaweechai’s claim.

The police are investigating the incident.
