Sri Racha Woman Arrested for Allegedly Operating A Pyramid Scheme

Sri Racha —

A woman in Sri Racha was arrested and charged for allegedly operating a pyramid scheme that cost the victims over 32 million baht in financial damages.

On Sunday, July 9th, police officers arrested the suspect only identified as 33-year-old Ms. Natwarin at the Rangsit Railway Station in Pathum Thani province on an arrest warrant issued by a court in Samut Sakhon province in 2015.

According to the police, Ms. Natwarin was the operator of an online pyramid scheme. Under a disguise of a fake bank employee, Ms. Natwarin enticed people to invest in the scheme while promising them that they would receive higher-than-normal interest rates as returns.

At first, the suspect would actually pay out the return as promised to create trust. However, once she accumulated the desired amount of money, she abruptly terminated the scheme and went into hiding.

It was reported that Ms. Natwarin operated over 100 fraudulent schemes with around 10-20 people investing in each. The total damage was nearly 32 million baht, according to the police.

Ms. Natwarin was being transferred to the Sri Racha Police Station to proceed with legal proceedings.
